In order to enhance performance, as much data as possible is held in memory. When available memory is exhausted, data is retrieved from disk, slowing down operations. The most likely cause of a slowdown is the maps or the facsimile, both of which consume substantial volumes of memory. Large numbers of open windows may also have an adverse effect upon performance. The most effective cure is additional memory. Failing that, reduce the number of maps or images on display and close inessential windows.
