codes for entries

Entries are classified by type. The codes for these types are:

B: Bruce fief: an addition to the text for Yorkshire made after 1113

C: Customs: the legal and financial customs of a county or borough

E: a rural manor, the most common type of entry

F: a fief heading

I: index of landowners in each county

L: the rubric of a separate section of the text, such as the List of Landholders at the beginning of each county

U: an urban entry described in a separate section for boroughs
